Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a remote team to identify and address community challenges and opportunities.
• Create and distribute high-quality written content (blogs, social media posts, etc.) that showcases community initiatives, events, and achievements.
• Actively engage with the community across various platforms such as IRC, social media, AskUbuntu, and conferences.
• Represent the community and the broader open-source ecosystem at speaking engagements, conferences, and expos.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to volunteer developers, ensuring their contributions and tools thrive.
• Support the inception and expansion of innovative technical projects that enhance the community's experience.
• Travel internationally for team events, conferences, and other engagements (2-4 weeks annually, with potential for more).
  
  

Required Skills

• A deep passion for technology and a desire to work within a collaborative environment.
• Adaptable, responsible, and possessing exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with open-source projects and proficiency in developer tools.
• Knowledgeable in two or more of the following areas: Ubuntu Linux, DevOps, software development, testing and QA, package management, or container technology.
• Capable of working independently, taking ownership of goals, and excelling in a fast-paced setting.
• Familiarity with the dynamics of open-source communities and the workflows of volunteer contributors.
  
  

Qualifications

• Experience engaging with open-source communities.
• Previous community management or developer advocacy experience is an advantage.
• Background in software development or contributions to open-source projects is preferred.
• Active involvement in the Ubuntu community or similar initiatives is a plus.
