Remote Technical Services Manager - Aluminum Packaging

Job Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Manager of Technical Services to spearhead aluminum packaging specifications and development within our North American Food Division. In this pivotal role, you will engage with technical teams, production facilities, and suppliers to uphold the highest standards of quality and performance in aluminum food packaging. Your responsibilities will include managing qualification trials, investigating metal performance challenges, and driving innovative solutions in packaging materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership by overseeing aluminum material development, specifications, and qualifications to optimize packaging performance.
• Manage and coordinate trials, facilitating collaboration between production facilities and suppliers while ensuring thorough on-site trial operations management.
• Drive innovation by identifying opportunities for enhanced materials and novel surfaces, and lead technical discussions with suppliers.
• Address aluminum packaging quality issues and contribute to ongoing improvements in plant operations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to guarantee compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements concerning packaging.
• Participate in supplier audits and disseminate best practices across teams.
• Be prepared for travel requirements, which may reach up to 50% during peak trial activities.
  
  

Required Skills

• Proven project management expertise with the capability to coordinate across diverse teams effectively.
• Strong, hands-on problem-solving abilities with a proactive and self-motivated mindset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, essential for effective interaction with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Meticulous attention to detail and an aptitude for managing multiple priorities efficiently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical analysis tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science, metallurgy, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in materials development, metal manufacturing, or packaging manufacturing.
• Familiarity with aluminum, tinplate/steel, and/or tooling materials is preferred.
