Key Responsibilities
- Deliver legal counsel and support to the Board of County Commissioners, administrative staff, and diverse agencies and boards.
- Engage in the litigation of intricate legal cases and represent the organization before public boards, including televised settings.
- Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, deeds, resolutions, and legal opinions.
- Conduct thorough legal research and draft reports and memoranda.
- Oversee and coordinate the work of subordinate personnel, including Assistant County Attorneys, Interns, and Externs.
- Represent various departments, officials, boards, and commissions in legal matters.
- Attend county commission meetings, agency sessions, and boards, which may require participation outside of standard work hours.
- Exhibit leadership through the evaluation, development, and motivation of team members.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the Florida Bar.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible legal experience, including substantial litigation experience.
- Robust knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in remote collaboration tools and document management software.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including public speaking capabilities.
- Ability to organize and present cases for trial, conducting hearings and other proceedings effectively.
- Preference for candidates possessing experience in eminent domain/inverse condemnation, real estate, and affordable housing.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible legal experience, which includes litigation experience.
