Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department to ensure seamless processes.
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and reporting for both residential and commercial properties.
- Prepare precise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy.
- Uphold compliance with all pertinent accounting standards and regulations.
- Coordinate and facilitate external audits to promote transparency and accountability.
- Mentor and supervise junior accounting personnel, nurturing their professional growth.
- Develop and maintain effective accounting systems and procedures to improve efficiency.
- Analyze financial data to discern trends and provide actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with property managers to guarantee timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Address intricate accounting issues while providing expert guidance to the team.
- Assist with minor HR responsibilities, including managing insurance matters.
- Oversee property accounting for Front Range properties.
- Manage company taxes, Common Area Maintenance (CAM) fees, budgets, and accounting via AppFolio.
- Utilize Yardi for the accounting of commercial properties.
- Supervise another accountant responsible for accounts payable and receivable.
- Collaborate with a finance professional managing more complex accounting tasks.
- Engage in minor accounting functions for our subsidiary development company.
- Proficient in accounting software and the MS Office Suite; experience with Yardi and AppFolio is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with exceptional multitasking skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated management experience with an ability to lead and inspire teams effectively.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- At least 5 years of experience in property accounting, ideally within real estate management.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field.
- Proven experience specifically as a property accountant is essential.
