Key Responsibilities

  • Represent employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in all facets of workers' compensation defense, encompassing both litigation and settlement negotiations.
  • Draft and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs to effectively advocate for our clients.
  • Conduct depositions of claimants, medical professionals, and expert witnesses, ensuring comprehensive representation.
  • Attend mediations, hearings, and trials, always advocating for the best interests of our clients.
  • Analyze medical and employment records alongside other documentation to thoroughly assess claims.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies, offering case evaluations and recommendations to clients.
  • Maintain transparent and consistent communication with clients, keeping them updated on case progress and legal strategies.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in Florida workers' compensation laws, trends, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in a supportive team environment, fostering professional growth and development.

Required Skills

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing with The Florida Bar.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in workers' compensation defense or a similar legal domain.
  • Proven track record in litigation, capable of managing a high-volume caseload effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving expertise.
  • Ability to operate both independently and collaboratively within a legal team.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
  • Experience in handling workers' compensation cases for large employers or insurance companies.
  • Familiarity with local court procedures and judges in the Southwest Florida region.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and sustain positive client relationships.
