Key Responsibilities
- Oversee workers’ compensation claims for MN and WI, focusing primarily on MN assigned risk pool claims.
- Conduct comprehensive investigations to ascertain liability, in compliance with state regulations and best practices.
- Calculate lost wages and manage intricate medical claims from initiation to conclusion.
- Communicate effectively with injured workers and employers regarding wellness, stay-at-work, or return-to-work strategies, ensuring transparency throughout the process.
- Authorize payments for medical and wage loss benefits.
- Coordinate medical, rehabilitation, and legal services while ensuring proper documentation.
- Conduct field visits as necessary (may include travel).
- Establish and manage case reserves, escalating issues as needed.
- Advise employers on risk exposure/reserves and strategies for mitigation.
- Formulate and document plans to achieve timely case resolutions.
- Proficient understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and procedures.
- Knowledge of the relevant state Workers' Compensation Act.
- Competence in state regulatory reporting.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Capacity to analyze data from diverse sources.
- Solid math skills.
- Developing skills in investigation, negotiation, and settlement.
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Mentoring abilities upon request.
- Proficient computer skills (preferably within a Windows environment).
- Effective prioritization, organizational, and time management skills.

- A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of six months of experience with workers’ compensation lost time claims is required.
- Understanding of insurance finance is advantageous.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse groups is essential.
