Job Title: Instructional Designer (Remote, Part-Time)
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Instructional Designer to create and develop engaging instructional materials for online, hybrid, and face-to-face healthcare courses in a higher education setting. This part-time, remote role involves approximately 10 hours per week at a rate of $35/hr. You will play a key role in designing and implementing effective programs and evaluating their impact, while contributing to continuous improvement based on data and feedback.
Key Responsibilities
Develop courses within the designated Learning Management System (LMS).
Prepare comprehensive course components including overviews, syllabi, learning outcomes, content, proficiency assessments, and interactive activities.
Create, publish, and manage eLearning content.
Design instructional materials for various learning formats, including traditional, online, and web-based programs.
Attend curriculum committee meetings and ensure approved curriculum changes are implemented.
Collaborate with subject matter experts during course design and implementation.
Utilize effective instructional strategies in the development of online courses.
Assist in selecting appropriate course materials and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
Develop and maintain instructional and training materials.
Operate within a flexible course production framework to accommodate changes in technology and educational needs.
Deliver courses according to the program/course development schedule and budget.
Follow best practices in course design and delivery for higher education programs.
Contribute to documentation, training materials, and knowledgebases.
Write and edit content for grammar, punctuation, style, and accuracy.
Manage content revisions and ensure high-quality standards.
Oversee course development projects from start to finish and communicate progress effectively.
Participate in team planning and implement solutions for new technologies and requirements.
Test and evaluate new educational tools and learning platforms, making recommendations as needed.
Stay updated on trends in online instruction, accessibility, and open educational resources.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master's degree or certificate in instructional design, instructional technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in designing and delivering higher education courses.
Proficiency in instructional design and technology, including multimedia authoring tools.
Strong writing skills for instructional text, audio scripts, and video scripts.
Knowledge of learning theories, instructional design models, and curriculum planning.
Experience with course development software and at least one Learning Management System.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage projects effectively.
Exceptional interpersonal and decision-making skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
Flexibility in adapting to new technologies and providing excellent customer service.
Preferred: 4 years of experience in applying learning theory to online course development, experience with Canvas LMS, and knowledge of online learning regulatory requirements (e.g., UDL, ADA, Section 508, FERPA).
