We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated professional to join our team as a Coding Specialist. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring accurate coding of medical procedures and diagnoses, facilitating proper reimbursement for healthcare providers. Additionally, the Coding Specialist will provide essential education to providers on Electronic Health Records (EHR) and the correct application of ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT codes.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Conduct audits to verify the accuracy of service submissions before billing.
Utilize hospital information to bill provider services accurately for hospitalized patients.
Apply correct ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT codes to all diagnoses and procedures.
Collaborate with providers to educate and update them on coding best practices.
Stay current on coding issues by attending seminars and in-services as required.
Audit medical records to ensure compliance with coding guidelines and legal requirements.
Review records to validate the completeness and accuracy of diagnoses and procedures.
Analyze provider documentation to ensure proper assignment of Evaluation & Management (E&M) levels.
QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, And Ability Requirements)
High School diploma or equivalent; CPC or CPC-A certification required.
Minimum Of 2 Years' Certified Coding Experience Preferred.
Proficiency in medical terminology.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
Flexibility to work occasional extended hours and adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to maintain confidentiality within a HIPAA secure environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS
Standard office environment; requires prolonged sitting, manual dexterity, and use of computer keyboard.
Mobility necessary for accessing files; occasional bending, stooping, and lifting.
Flexible hours may be required, including occasional mandatory overtime at month-end.
