Key Responsibilities
- Initiate new prior authorization requests to healthcare providers.
- Identify the appropriate prior authorization forms required for each patient’s insurance provider.
- Collaborate with prescribers and medical offices to ensure accurate information is documented on prior authorization forms.
- Follow up proactively with medical offices regarding the status of prior authorization requests.
- Communicate the status of prior authorizations effectively to both patients and providers.
- Coordinate with medical offices to manage appeals of denied prior authorizations.
- Respond to inquiries from other departments regarding prior authorization requests.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong technical aptitude, analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Good judgment and a strong operational focus are essential.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Flexibility to work shifts between 8 AM and 8 PM.
- A high school diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
- Customer service or inbound call center experience is essential; 1 years' experience in prior authorizations or insurance verification within a pharmacy setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with pharmacy benefits and claims is a plus.
