Job Title: Director of Truckload Pricing( Functions more as a Manager position, doing pricing directly)
Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Director of Truckload Pricing to join our team. This role will work closely with the Vice President of Operations and take a hands-on approach to managing domestic truckload pricing operations. This includes overseeing the customer bid process, managing contracts, billing systems, and ensuring accurate data integration through EDI and API. The Director will also play a critical role in pricing strategy development and execution, collaborating across departments to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Pricing Operations:
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the domestic truckload pricing function, including customer bids, contracts, pricing awards, billing and rating structures, and data management (EDI/API).
- Lead the completion of customer Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Pricing (RFP) in partnership with sales and support operations teams.
- Strategic Pricing Development:
- Work closely with senior leadership to develop and implement pricing strategies that enhance win percentage and drive business growth.
- Evaluate customer opportunities, lead the development of tailored pricing strategies, and drive improvements in pricing processes.
- Market Analysis & Comparative Studies:
- Conduct in-depth market analysis to assess competitive pricing, trends, and external factors that impact pricing strategies.
- Lead efforts to ensure that pricing structures align with market conditions and customer needs, including assessing volume, yield, and award management metrics.
- Collaboration & Relationship Building:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across operations, sales, and senior leadership to align pricing strategies with organizational goals.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and leader in pricing-related technical and strategic matters, contributing to process improvement and ongoing optimization.
- Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Lead data-driven decision-making by evaluating key metrics and performance indicators such as volume, yield, and award management.
- Report on important statistics related to pricing and operational performance to senior management.
- Technology & Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with the technology team to identify, develop, and implement tools and systems that support pricing functions.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve pricing processes and workflows, leveraging industry knowledge and technological advancements.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 5 years of hands-on truckload pricing experience, preferably in a 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) Domestic Over the Road environment.
- Strong knowledge of the truckload marketplace and proven success in developing and executing effective pricing strategies.
- Technical Skills:
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Access.
- Experience using data analytics tools and platforms is preferred.
- Proficiency in McLeod software is required.
- Familiarity with Four Kites and Project 44 software is a plus.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, draw actionable insights, and drive decision-making.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities and delivering results under pressure.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with senior leadership, operations, and sales teams.
