Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced NRA Certified Pistol Instructor to provide professional firearm training and safety education. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of firearms, proficiency in handling various types of pistols, and a strong commitment to promoting firearm safety. This position involves conducting training courses, mentoring students of all experience levels, and ensuring compliance with state and federal firearm laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Courses and other firearm training sessions as needed.
- Instruct students in the proper handling, maintenance, and operation of pistols, emphasizing firearm safety.
- Provide clear and engaging classroom instruction and practical range demonstrations.
- Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to improve their firearm handling skills.
- Ensure all training activities adhere to NRA guidelines, safety standards, and legal requirements.
- Maintain a safe training environment by enforcing all safety protocols and monitoring participants on the range.
- Stay updated on changes in firearm laws, regulations, and training techniques.
- Manage training materials, maintain accurate records, and issue certificates upon course completion.
- Communicate professionally with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Must be a current NRA Certified Pistol Instructor.
- Extensive experience with firearms, particularly pistols, with a deep understanding of their mechanics and operation.
- Proven expertise in firearm safety, including safe handling, storage, and transportation.
- Strong teaching and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students of varying skill levels.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local firearm laws and regulations.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred but not required).
- Previous experience as a Range Safety Officer is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Comfortable working in outdoor and indoor shooting range environments.
