What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Payroll Services Coordinator position at Gettysburg College?
Gettysburg College is seeking a part-time Payroll Coordinator to work approximately 22.5 hours per week in the Financial Services Department. Work days would primarily be Monday, Tuesdays, and Fridays. The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Payroll Supervisor with the processing of the College’s faculty/administrative, support staff, and student bi-weekly payrolls. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing time sheets, entering data into PeopleSoft HCM software system, coordinating printing and distribution of checks and pay statements, and preparing deposits for federal, state, local and other tax withholdings and payments.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant work experience or continuing education in accounting/bookkeeping is required. Payroll experience is highly preferred. The candidate will be comfortable with technology and learning new computer software applications. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is preferred.
The following demonstrated abilities are required to successfully perform the duties of the positon: provide excellent customer service and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing; have strong attention to detail and maintain a high level of accuracy and validation in an environment with frequent interruptions; apply guidelines and policies related to human resources and payroll services; successfully prioritize duties to meet process deadlines while managing multiple duties simultaneously; maintain and handle confidential information in the appropriate manner; and exercise sound judgement. Must be able to work independently, and as a team player, and have general knowledge of professional practices and procedures for working successfully in an office environment and responsive to office needs.
