Job Summary
Gettysburg College invites applications for two full-time Visiting Assistant Professor positions in mathematics for the 2025-2026 academic year. The responsibilities of the positions are to teach the equivalent of six courses during the academic year. The teaching load will include courses from the calculus sequence and may include other courses according to the needs of the department and the interests of the candidates. The successful candidates will have opportunities to influence the mathematics program of an energetic department and to involve students in a variety of mathematical activities outside the classroom. While there are no active research expectations associated with this position, the department values and encourages scholarship. Successful candidates may apply for funds to support scholarly activity.
Qualifications Applicants must have a Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field, or expect to complete the Ph.D. by August 2025. The areas of specialization are open. The following are essential : (i) demonstrated success as a teacher, with clear promise of future excellent and innovative teaching in undergraduate mathematics; (ii) an interest in working as a teacher in a liberal arts environment. In addition, preference will be given to candidates (iii) whose teaching has clear potential to promote a campus environment in which underrepresented students will thrive.
