What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher's Assistant position at Gettysburg Montessori Charter School?
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a high school diploma.
- At least one year of experience working with young children in educational settings.
- Must have completed all appropriate background checks and clearances as required by law, including, but not limited to criminal history report, PA child abuse clearance, and FBI background check.
Reports to: Head Teacher and/or CEO/Principal or Designee
Evaluation:
This position is evaluated at least annually by the CEO/Principal or Designee with input from Classroom teachers. Evaluation is based upon fulfillment of duties and responsibilities listed in the job description below.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and students.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Responsibilities: The essential job functions include but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
- Work directly with students and teachers, both individually and in groups.
- Work with multi-age/multi-grade student groups.
- Help to keep students focused on work in their classrooms.
- Participate in professional development sessions.
- Assist the teachers with carrying out their lessons and implementing Montessori activities with students.
- Be a team member.
- Observe children and report concerning behaviors and incidents immediately to the Classroom teacher and Assistant Principal.
- Recess and lunch duties.
- Perform other duties per school policies and practices as assigned from time to time by the Classroom teacher, CEO/Principal, or their designees.
- Take the role of lead teacher when the lead teacher is absent.
- Assist with specials as needed.
- Make sure all students are accounted for at all times.
Job Type: Part-time
