An exciting opportunity is available to join Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. (GHA), an employee-owned, multi-faceted civil engineering consultant that has built a reputation for civil engineering with a personal approach. We are seeking a Landscape Architecture Intern to join our growing Civil Design team in Vernon Hills, IL.
How you will make an impact:
The Landscape Architecture Intern will report to the Service Lead, Intern Coordinators, Project Managers, Landscape Architect, Squad Lead, and HR. The Landscape Architecture Intern will be involved in landscape design, site planning, AutoCAD drafting, and conducting site and tree inventories. This role is a non-exempt, hourly position.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the civil design division and landscape architect with planning, design, permitting, and cost estimates for a variety of projects.
- Draft site/landscape plans and landscape details as part of design, construction documents, or as preliminary conceptual designs.
- Use graphic software (Photoshop) to develop three-dimensional graphics to communicate intended site designs.
- Responsible for meeting assigned project goals and objectives and ensuring on schedule and accurate completion.

Qualifications
What you will bring to Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc.:
Education:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited college/university.
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Self-starter with a strong attention to detail
- Basic familiarity with AutoCAD and with either SketchUp or Photoshop
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Detail-oriented individual who takes pride in producing high-quality individual work products.
- Ability to focus on working independently with general supervision and collaboratively as part of a larger team to achieve project goals.
- Desire and ability to ask questions when unsure or when curious, for a better understanding and to learn from the task at hand.
- A solid work ethic with the desire to be curious to learn about firm business and the industry.
- Must be able to take directions, collaborate with other team members, have good interpersonal and organizational skills, and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
