Job Title: CMT Lab Tech II
Job Summary / Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Hours will regularly be adjusted to meet schedules of our clients and may include weekend, night, and early morning hours.
Tasks include, but are not limited to preparation of samples for testing, sample testing pertaining to soil, concrete, grout, mortar and asphalt. The position requires the employee to clearly identify, verbally communicate and document test results and activities. As the work load dictates tasks may include performance of field testing and observation.
Employee will, under close supervision by higher level technicians or staff professionals, perform routine field and/or laboratory work, transport samples or documents, and perform non-technical functions and office tasks, and perform basic testing and observations duties
- Laboratory testing of construction related materials including (but not limited to) soil, concrete, aggregate, and asphalt
- Test and analyze soil and rock samples to determine their content and characteristics, using laboratory apparatus or testing equipment
- Performing concrete laboratory tests on construction materials under the direction of the laboratory
- Atterberg limits, gradation analyses, swell testing, moisture content testing, visual classifications, unconfined compressive strength testing of soil and rock, and standard and modified proctor testing
- Soils - performs in-place density tests by nuclear, moisture density (Proctor), sieve analysis, samples soils.
- Aggregates – samples and performs sieve analysis and Field Density Tests
- Transport, operate and care for a nuclear density gauge as assigned, meeting all safety, care and maintenance guidelines.
- Assist with other laboratory functions as needed.
- Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
- Performs sampling or testing as directed
- Provides assistance to other field and/or laboratory personnel
- Transports equipment, specimens or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices
- Provides physical assistance in equipment setup
- Clean equipment, vehicles and work areas
- Assists other technicians or professional staff on routine tasks
- Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
- Submit Daily Reports

Minimum Education, Training, Certification and/or Experience Requirements:
- 3-8 years of experience related to construction material testing laboratory
- Knowledge and Experience with ASTM, AASHTO, or ISO standards
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-2 industry related certifications
- Nuclear Gauge Certification
Other Requirements:
- Possession of a valid state of residence driver’s license
- Clean Driving record
- Ability to be insured under all applicable Corporation insurance policies and requirements
- Ability to pass a drug test
- Daily travel to and from construction sites, generally within 100 miles from the home office is expected. Short term, out of town work, generally lasting less than 2 weeks is possible. Long term out of town assignments may be required occasionally with advance notice of planned dates.
- May be required to work protracted and irregular hours to meet deadlines including overtime and occasional weekends.

- Must use good judgment to identify and resolve problems on the job, refer problems to supervisor when needed
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move, lift or carry objects or materials up to 100 lbs. without assistance.
- In addition to manual lifting, body motions and movements include: bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing
- Work involves long term standing and repetitive motions.
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding
- Ability to physically maneuver construction sites and excavations
- Visual / hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written / verbal communications in the English language, including the ability to communicate directly and over the telephone and be understood.

Compensation:
