What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT SA Sr Systems Administrator position at GFB?
REMOTE POSITION WITHIN GEORGIA - MUST BE ABLE TO COME INTO THE HOME OFFICE LOCATED IN MACON GA AS NEEDED OR SCHEDULED.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Design, install and configure internal and customer-facing servers, cloud services and firewalls
- Proactively manage and maintain server, network and firewall systems
- Administer and support core Microsoft, Linux, Kubernetes, Cisco, and VMware technologies
- Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans
- Design and implement backup solutions for on premises and cloud infrastructure
- Administration of SAN technologies
- Administration of solutions that monitor computer system health, performance, and availability
- Administration of solutions that manage computer systems (such as software deployments, OS deployment, OS patch management, hardware and software inventory, compliance and configuration baselines)
- Administration and management of solutions that provide life cycle management for various types of certificates
- Define and document best practices and support procedures
- Provide after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies as well occasional weekend maintenance
- Maintain inventory and asset configuration documentation
- Assist with hardware and software vendor evaluation, recommendation and negotiations
- Provide guidance and training to other members on the team
- Carry out special tasks at Management's direction
- Interact with vendors and staff at the technical level, as required
- Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values
- Implementation and maintenance of the following Windows systems: Active Directory Services, Application Servers, Certificate Authority (PKI), DHCP Servers, DNS Servers, File Services, Print and Document Services, Remote Desktop Services, SQL Database Servers, Web Services, Windows Update Services. Windows and Application systems that support asset management, operations and state monitoring for datacenter infrastructure; additional systems include VMware and Microsoft Hypervisors to support a virtualized datacenter.
- Implementation and maintenance of the following Microsoft Power Platform technologies: Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, Dynamics 365.
- Implementation and maintenance of the following Microsoft 365 services: Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Intune, and Entra AD.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for efficient problem mitigation and resolution of all systems and services in the Windows environment.
- Position has responsibility for a component of IT security for their functional area
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS:
- Keep management and team members informed of technical issues that arise.
- Work closely with other IT departments to support and administer systems, applications, and services consumed by other IT teams.
- Be available for 24/7 on-call rotation.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and activities independently as well as work in a team environment.
- An understanding of the importance of procedures and the need to follow them is required.
- Some travel required with occasional overnight trips
QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s (4-year) degree, or Associate’s (2-year) with combined work experience in Information & Technology or related fields 12-14 years
- 8 Years work experience in systems administration
- Demonstrated experience in core networking protocols and functions (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, Ethernet, File and Print Services)
- In-depth knowledge of network operating systems and virtualization (Microsoft, VMware)
- Demonstrated experience in enterprise servers and applications (Microsoft Exchange, Enterprise SQL)
- General knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes
- Experience installing and upgrading applications or databases
- Knowledge of basic operating system commands and utilities as well as scripting
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple project assignments and competing priorities on time
- Must be able to solve highly complex technical problems
- Must know how to read, analyze and interpret procedures, instructions and other documents
- Must know how to research and analyze trends in the IT industry.
- Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license and maintain a driving record that complies with the Underwriting guides for the Mutual Insurance Company.

- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on frequent basis.
- Working in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces is required.
