Quality Control Technician
Columbus, GA
Job Summary :
As a QC Lab Technician at Goldens' Foundry & Machine Company, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality of our products and adherence to established industry standards. You will be responsible for performing various testing and inspection procedures on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure they meet our stringent quality requirements. The QC Lab Technician will work under the supervision of the QC Lab Supervisor to meet ISO 9001 : 2015 standards of quality.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct routine testing and inspections on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products using various laboratory equipment and tools.
- Perform dimensional checks and visual inspections to verify product compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Conduct metallurgical testing, including microstructure analysis, hardness testing, and tensile strength testing.
- Utilize non-destructive testing methods, such as ultrasonic testing and magnetic particle inspection, to identify defects or irregularities.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Document all test results, deviations, and non-conformances accurately and maintain proper records in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist in root cause analysis and troubleshooting of quality issues, recommending corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality-related concerns and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Must be able to stand on feet and tolerate extreme heat or cold. Sometimes required to lift and carry 65lbs short distances.
- Ensure that health and safety guidelines are strictly followed within the lab environment.
- Do work that can sometimes be monotonous, repetitive and boring.
- Work from process and instruction sheets.
- Run chemistry samples, break tensile bars, obtain hardness values from tensile bars, and analyze microstructure for continuous logging purposes of all results.
- Monitor the lab environment and make adjustments as necessary.
- Collect and prepare iron and sand samples for testing as required.
- Perform all required lab testing on iron and sand samples as directed.
- Record and analyze iron and sand test results.
- Adhere to all plant safety rules and procedures.
- Perform certain lab testing and functions as directed.
- Document inspection results by completing reports and logs.
- Ensure manufacturing processes meet control specifications and finished product standards are met.
- Establish reliability and initiative to create a higher standard of performance through meeting set deadlines, achieving goals and objectives and pursuing efficiency.
- Report all problems or concerns to supervisor.
- Follow company attendance and punctuality policies.
- Follow and comply with all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing mandatory PPE.
Preferred Qualifications :
Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
