About the Job
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our GFS Chemicals family at our McKinley Avenue campus in Columbus, Ohio. This role is focused on ensuring the efficiency of our maintenance organization by planning, scheduling, and reporting on work orders for maintenance tasks and ensure the right resources, parts, and inventory is available to get the job done. They will work collaboratively with other maintenance staff, engineering teams, operations, and project managers to ensure effective execution of projects. The maintenance engineer must be organized, have excellent communication skills, and possess an understanding of how to plan & prioritize work.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Maintenance Manager to proactively plan plant maintenance activities on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis utilizing computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and other tools for tracking maintenance work.
- Manage full utilization of the CMMS program including daily tracking of technician hours, preventative maintenance scheduling, work order completion rates, and all necessary reporting.
- Support the Maintenance Manager, Engineering Group Manager, and Automation Manager with project planning and documenting of action items utilizing our dedicated software platform.
- Responsible for performing all MRO purchasing.
- Assist in machine repairs & builds working alongside experienced engineering and maintenance personnel as time permits.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager and Engineering team to manage contractors coming into the facility. This includes ensuring they are scheduled appropriately, all paperwork is filled out accurately, and that they are escorted throughout the facilities as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on exploring solutions to reduce production issues, increase capacity, and drive more throughput.
- Properly develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance systems for production equipment.
- Maintain ownership of receiving and tracking of our parts inventory.
