We are currently seeking a QC Chemist to join our GFS Chemicals Family. This is a 1st shift position, with a schedule of 5:30AM - 2:00PM, M-F.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree with a science focus or equivalent work related experience in analytical testing, laboratory, or quality control
- 0-2 years’ previous experience in analytical testing, laboratory or quality control required.
- Strong commitment to practicing safe behaviors
- Demonstrates a positive, team-based attitude
- Effectively evaluates data and communicates results
- Mindset for attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Be medically cleared and able to wear required PPE, including company provided respiratory protection
Essential Responsibilities:
You will be trained to use powerful analytical tools and methods to qualify fascinating products used in automotive, pharmaceutical, electronic, agrochemical, and energy commercial applications. Each day presents unique challenges as we strive to stay on the cutting edge of technology. The successful candidate will also participate in the development of new testing methods and processes working closely with end use customers and operations.
Daily activities:
- Utilize a variety of sophisticated lab instruments to measure achievement of reaction completion. These include gas chromatography (GC), mass spectrophotometry (MS), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Ultraviolet and infrared spectrophotometry (UV/IR), and Karl Fisher moisture content analysis.
- Perform manual testing procedures such as titrations and other bench chemistry.
- Work closely with Operations Department to test and adjust batches in process.
- Participate in problem solving and continuous improvement projects.
- Focus on laboratory housekeeping and personal protective equipment usage and care.
- Follow written operating procedures including recording information and data.
- Most importantly----help to create a positive, productive, and safe work environment.
