Summary Description
This role will be responsible for improving our current operational packaging processes. These processes include liquid filling, capping, and packaging of products (cartoning, blister carding, sleeving, hand packing, palletizing…) This individual must be capable of making sound justification to deploy new capital and present a desired return on investment. This individual must be capable of producing 3-D cad designs to solve packaging challenges. Responsibility will also include the ability to project manage the implementation of the new process while utilizing cross functional support from maintenance, manufacturing and the controls engineering team. Candidate must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities with a strong attention to detail.
Duties
- Identify means to drive efficiency in current processes.
- Source new equipment while including capital justification.
- Design a variety of custom equipment/Machines ranging from custom filling machines, fixtures, and replacement parts.
- Perform FAT/SAT for all equipment on new purchases.
- Perform process capability analysis and additional data analysis for assessing process.
- Use statistical tools to evaluate processes.
- Author and complete IQ/OQ/PQ documentation
- Project manage cross functional support to deploy solutions.
- Support Operations, Continuous Improvement Engineering, and Maintenance on process improvements.
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by management.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in related field.
Design Experience:
- 3D CAD proficiency (Solidworks preferred)
- Light Duty structural design experience
- Proven design experience using pneumatics, servos, and linear motion
- Must understand how controls can impact solutions
- Liquid filling experience preferred
- Experience authoring technical documents including but not limited to validation protocols, work instructions/ standard operating procedures, etc.)
Candidate Professional Expectations:
- Excellent organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills are required as this role interacts with all levels within the organization.
- Proficient in critical thinking and troubleshooting of complex mechanical equipment and systems (exposure to fillers, batchers, cartoners is a plus)
- Should be goal oriented, confident, and able to work well under pressure and succeed within a competitive environment.
- Demonstrate good judgment.
- Must be able to work independently, demonstrate effective initiative to meet short deadlines.
- Travel Required ~10%
Required Computer Skills:
- SolidWorks
- Provide training certificates if earned.
- On Site testing may be required
- AutoCAD
- Fluent in Microsoft Office
