The Regulatory Compliance Technician will be responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation, and execution of new product development projects, cost down projects and sustainability projects. This individual’s responsibilities are to coordinate reviews, testing, and supplier documentation requests. The Regulatory Compliance Technician will be responsible for supporting the evaluation that our products are safe, comply with applicable regulatory requirements, have correct labeling, and ensure all necessary documentation is on file.  They will work closely with the Global Regulatory Team to assist in a variety of ways including providing key support cross functionally to protect and provide risk assessments to our business partners.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Regulatory team within new product development projects across our cosmetics, adhesives, sealants and OTC product ranges, contributing to project deliverables, reporting progress and challenges to the Regulatory team as appropriate.
  • Execute the safety assessment process, ensuring applicable assessments (including HRIPT) are executed through third party providers, tracking progress and communicating outputs.
  • Organize, collate and support the assessment of finished product and raw material information from suppliers, gathering information, identifying, and filling gaps as applicable.
  • Support submissions and requests through various customer portals (WERCS and similar portals).
  • Process and manage submissions and documentation requests received through third party assessment programs (UL and similar)
  • Support the input, editing and maintenance of raw material and bulk formula records into our organization’s various IT systems.
  • Collate, maintain, organize, and assess regulatory documentation across cosmetic and adhesive products, including but not limited to safety assessments, safety data sheets, technical data sheets and any other relevant documentation.
  • Use available resources including existing horizon scanning tools, external partners, and trade associations to keep abreast of emerging technical and regulatory matters, sharing out relevant updates as applicable.
  • Complete customer regulatory surveys and information requests.
  • Support product and raw material sampling, coordinating testing (safety and physical testing) and communicating results.
  • Review draft product packaging artwork and other outward-facing consumer-focused material for use in various countries and markets to ensure regulatory compliance and industry best practice.
  • Other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications


Qualifications Required:

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in regulatory affairs, cosmetic science, biology, biochemistry, chemistry or a related discipline.

 

Experience and Background:

  • Developing knowledge of regulations governing product safety, compliance and registrations.

 

Specific skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to interact with individuals from a variety of functional backgrounds through effective communication of data & risks and influencing the outcome. 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, to organize and prioritize within and between projects. 
  • Flexibility, adaptability and ability to quickly assimilate and apply new information.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and similar software packages.

 

Technical Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions.
  • Should have a basic understanding of the current regulatory environment and common practice in the US and Canada.
