JOB TITLE: CAD Draftsman Large Overhead Crane Company

GH Cranes & Components has plants and offices in different countries all over the world and has an immediate opening in Terrell, Texas, for an experienced CAD Draftsman for designing and detailing overhead cranes and runway systems in both 2D & 3D.
JOB SUMMARY:
Proficiency in AutoCAD 2024, SolidWorks 2024, PDM, and Excel is required, along with 2 years of experience in structural steel design and detailing (preferred). The CAD Draftsman will be responsible for reviewing project information, determining design requirements for crane and runway system projects, and preparing detailed shop drawings for manufacturing.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong visual creativity and the ability to accurately visualize design intent within the software. They must be confident in leading coordination efforts with various entities, including engineers, architects, consultants, subcontractors, contractors, and internal staff. Additionally, expertise in using Excel and Adobe software is essential, along with a solid understanding of technical implementation across these platforms.
Duties include, but not limited to:
· Knowledge of Steel Construction codes (AISC)
· Knowledge of Crane Manufacturing codes (CMAA)
· Modeling of cranes and runway structures, in 2D & 3D, per AISC/CMAA codes and Project specs
· Collect and process various documentation and drawing models for design coordination and field installation
· Coordinate design models with other trades, structural & architectural to detect design clashes
· Prepare project submittal drawings for approval per Project specs
· Prepare shop detail drawings for manufacturing
· Assist Sales & Estimating with preliminary design of Cranes and Runway Systems to help in the estimating process
· Manage and use coordination, scheduling, programming, file sharing and collaboration platforms
· Timeliness is the key. Candidate must perform well within strict deadlines to meet the project schedule
· This position requires a self-motivated mindset
· Work well within a Team atmosphere
· The candidate should be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
· Assist the project team with model visualizations
· Provide Valid solutions to clashes that benefit the project while feeding the company’s fabrication product line
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
· Area of study in structural-mechanical Technology from a technical school, trade school, bachelor’s degree not required but a plus. 2 years relevant experience
· AutoCAD software knowledge required
· SolidWorks software knowledge required
· Product Data Management, PDM, experience required
· ASME Y14 Standard
· Ability to read construction drawings
· Microsoft product knowledge, specifically Excel
· Adobe experience
SKILLS:
· Bilingual – Spanish (It’s a plus)
