Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary eye exams and tests, including measuring visual acuity and retinal imaging.
- Assist in the fitting and dispensing of eyewear and contact lenses.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling medical billing.
- Utilize electronic health record systems to document patient information efficiently.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries and concerns regarding eye care products and services.
- Collaborate with optometrists to ensure optimal patient care and follow-up procedures.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in ophthalmology and optometry practices.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an optometric technician or in a similar healthcare role is preferred.
- Knowledge of retail math, medical records management, medical coding, and billing practices is a plus.
- Familiarity with ophthalmology terminology and anatomy knowledge is highly desirable.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
