What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cytotechnologist - Full Time position at GHI Staffing Solutions?
Shift is Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm with some flexibility - 100% onsite
Qualifications:
* Minimum of 3 years of experience as a cytotechnologist
* ASCP certification is preferred
* Must have a current passing grade of an annual cytotechnologist proficiency test
* Training and proficient with Hologic Thin Prep Imaging System
Procedural Responsibilities:
* Responsible for using clinical history and other patient information in arriving at the proper diagnosis for each cytologic specimen
* Examine cytology specimens for the presence of abnormal cellular changes and pathogens
* Sign out all negative gynecologic cases
* Report other cytologic findings, such as the presence of microorganisms endocervical component
* Evaluate and mark GYN (reactive and reparative, abnormal, questionable or negative)
* Submit reactive and reparative, abnormal and questionable GYN cases to a pathologist for final evaluation
* Record the results of each GYN slide read on the appropriate form/systems/etc. used in the laboratory, in a legible manner
* Submit daily workload of negative GYN cases for a minimum of 10% quality control review (including random high-risk cases) by a supervisory qualified cytotechnologist.
* Maintain appropriate records
* Maintain compliance with workload limits
* Maintain microscope in excellent working condition
* Participate in continuing education in areas relating to Cytology
