Ghost Ranch Education and Retreat center, located in Abiquiu, NM, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities Department. Ghost Ranch sits on 21,000 acres of beautiful, northern New Mexico land, which inspires our mission to steward a place of great beauty and to nurture the human spirit and mind. We welcome thousands of day visitors and overnight participants from across the region, the United States, and the world. Our Facilities team is essential to maintaining this place of beauty and hospitality. With over 200 structures on the property, an experienced and skilled technician will actively contribute to project upgrades and repairs, as well as new initiatives.
Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facilities including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building systems, such as:

Stairs, railings, tile, floors, roofs, gutters, fasteners, lights, ceiling fans, appliances, doors, cabinets, windows, locks, ceilings, walls, patios, walkways, fireplaces, gas fixtures, water heaters, controlled access systems, etc.

- Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment and infrastructure.

Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to guest experience.

Assist in the upkeep and safety of the grounds and vehicle maintenance.

Assist to monitor and manage building systems such as boilers, heating units, water tanks, septic systems, etc.

In coordination with supervisors, maintain accurate maintenance logs, inventory, etc.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, fire codes, and building standards.
Qualifications:
Required
-
Minimum of 4 years experience in maintenance, construction, or skilled trades
-
Strong working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry systems.

Ability to work independently as well as with a team. An experienced candidate would be able to initiate and complete a project assignment on their own, while seeking appropriate support from supervisors or peers. For big projects, ability to work alongside peers and/or volunteers to coordinate tasks and enable team success.

Great communication and interpersonal skills; guest-focused and service-oriented.??

Comfortable working with basic digital tools for maintenance tracking and communication.

Dependable and punctual. Show up on time for shifts; proactively communicate with the supervisor.

Able to be on your feet and perform physical activities almost all the time, in both indoor and outdoor conditions every season of the year.

Ability to lift up to 25lbs on a regular basis, occasionally lift heavier objects, climb ladders, and perform other physical tasks.

Valid New Mexico driver's license and minimum three years clean driving record.

Experience in plumbing.

Experience in framing and drywall installation.
-
Experience in a hospitality, hotel, resort, or retreat environment is preferred.
