What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineering Manager position at Ghost Robotics?

Ghost Robotics is the industry leader in legged robotic systems that not only help our customers solve complex operational, national security, and technical challenges to save lives, reduce harm and improve outcomes.

This position will be reporting into the VP, Reliability and Quality and be working closely with a fast-moving team delivering next generation legged robotic solutions to our customers worldwide. We are looking for a candidate who is self-motivated, knowledgeable, has a solid work ethic, can learn quickly, and execute under demanding timelines.


Key Duties

  • Lead the organization through ISO9001/AS9100 certification processes, ensuring compliance with standards and readiness for audits.
  • Champion and drive continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to achieve established organizational quality goals.
  • Coordinate RMAs of customer robot property, and lead investigations into the quality-related issues.
  • Screen and identify non-conforming parts from suppliers, and coordinate RMAs.
  • Establish and implement quality metrics (e.g., process capability, control charts, measurement systems analysis) to monitor effectiveness and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives to identify and implement effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Develop and execute business strategies with annual objectives aligned to financial, customer, process, and organizational goals.
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers, technicians, and interns, fostering professional growth and ensuring the successful execution of quality-related projects and initiatives.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality processes into engineering and manufacturing workflows.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the growth and success of the organization.

Minimum Work Experience

  • 5 years of QA experience in a robotics, integration, consultancy, or product-focused company.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, reliability, and quality best practices and standards.
  • Proven experience leading ISO9001/AS9100 certification processes and maintaining compliance.
  • Experience managing and mentoring technical staff, with a demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and achieve results.
  • Technical expertise in programming languages such as C , Python, and Unix.
  • Familiarity with integrating 3rd-party APIs to develop custom solutions.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on clear reporting and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software applications.


Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Firmware, Software, Electrical, Math, Physics, Mechatronics) or related discipline required.


Location

Philadelphia, PA (no remote candidates considered at this time).


Travel

No Travel Required. Opportunities for Domestic and International Travel are available.

Salary : $110,000 - $140,000
