What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commodity Buyer position at GHSP?
The Commodity Buyer leads the assigned commodities in support of organizational and operational objectives. The Commodity Buyer has the responsibility for the following :
- Strategy development utilizing of the Global supply base to assist all divisions, ensuring the Global execution of the established commodity strategies.
- Working in a collaborative manner seeking input from Product Business Teams, SQE's, Supply Chain Management, etc. and obtaining agreement on documented global strategies.
- Development and defining Global Commodity Strategies, gaps, and developing plans to mature strategies.
- Negotiates supplier terms and manages global supplier agreements,
- Evaluating current and potential suppliers to support GHSP product line strategies, business plans, development plans, advance product development projects and needs.
- Serves as a representative of Supply Chain to Engineering teams, communicating any cost, lead-time, or launch issues identified through quoting and launch process in support of new product launches with their assigned commodities.
- Documents trends of key commodities (steel, resins, copper, etc.) for cost forecasting.
- Work may require travel to various GHSP manufacturing facilities.
- Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent.
- 2 years experience in supply chain preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
- Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
