What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Optimization Analyst position at GHSP?
The Cost Optimization Analyst assists in driving the organization towards achieving critical financial metrics on key programs as assigned by the Director of Supply Chain Management. This can include products in the quote / award process, the launch process, as well as current production. Achieves strategic business goals by leading cost optimization workshops and working with cross-functional teams to drive follow-up activity with the vision to enable a successful product cost structure and profit margin.
Essential Job Responsibilities Collaboration Across Departments
Collaborate with Program Management, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Costing / Finance, and Senior Management team to achieve cost targets on specific products and programs.
Encourage cross-functional team member ideas and problem solving.
Drive the team to discover and implement VA / VE and Value Stream proposals; and leverage a method to track ideas and implementation progress.
The goal is to achieve significant breakthrough improvements in cost structure and to establish a culture of success in meeting product / program hurdle rates.
Product Cost Analysis and Improvement
Assist in the development and execution of functional strategies to obtain the greatest return on investment for targeted products.
Utilize all available resources in conjunction with the cross-functional team to improve cost performance in all areas including : product design, material and sub-supplier selection, landed cost (transportation, duties, tariffs, ), capital / tooling, manufacturing footprint and overhead.
Lead Cost Optimization Process
Structure and lead cost optimization workshops; helping teams to analyze, prioritize, and implement savings ideas / strategies.
Assist in the development of the overall approach in consideration of both VAVE and Value Stream Mapping initiatives.
Train product development team on cost optimization methods and build a passion for cost optimization among team members.
Influence development and implementation of innovations that reduce GOGS.
Overcome barriers to achieve defined cost optimization savings goals.
Leverage Lessons Learned and Best Practices
Ensure successful cost optimization ideas are shared within a product family and across the entire product portfolio where appropriate.
Partner with the Costing function to ensure relevant lessons learned are driving updates to the costing model to ensure the best competitive advantage.
Drive key functional teams (Eng, Ops, Supply Chain) to capture best practices within their relevant functional processes.
Methods, Materials, Design, and Process Benchmarking
Partner with other functions to lead product teardown and process innovation activities where applicable.
Pursue opportunities from external resources to evaluate, understand, and leverage relevant benchmarking information.
Apply this information in the cost optimization process internally.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance or similar industry.
3 years related work experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
Progressive leadership experience in operations, CI, program management, engineering, and / or finance.
Ability to work cross functionally, having strong team, communication and organizational skills.
