Job Summary:
Gibraltar School District is seeking a dedicated and skilled Athletic Trainer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for injury prevention, care, and rehabilitation of our student-athletes. This position requires a motivated individual who is committed to the safety and well-being of our students and can work effectively with coaches, parents, and healthcare providers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement injury prevention programs for coaches and athletes
- Provide immediate care for injured athletes and assess the need for additional care, including EMS or follow-up with a physician
- Maintain clear and effective communication with parents, healthcare providers, and staff, in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Document injuries and treatments, including required MHSAA Concussion Reporting
- Execute treatment and rehabilitation plans as directed by the supervising physician
- Develop, implement, and provide training for teams and coaches on emergency protocols and action plans
- Monitor and reinforce heat and cold safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance
- Coordinate with other athletic trainers to share information regarding injuries sustained by GSD students during off-campus competitive events
- Advise and assist coaches on the appropriate fit and use of safety equipment
- Train staff in first aid, CPR and AED when needed
- Organize, inventory, and requisition training room supplies through the Athletic Director
- Be present at all designated games and practices
- Make necessary parent/guardian phone calls
- Other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Principal
- Regular and predictable attendance is required
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) with appropriate certification as mandated by law. Recent graduates in athletic training must hold a master’s degree to meet updated legal requirements.
- ATC Certification from the Board of Certification (BOC)
- Valid Michigan Athletic Trainer License
- Possess current certification in First Aid, CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care and AED
- Previous experience working with high school students preferred
- Must be eligible to work in the United States

Pay: $64,761.00 - $80,552.00 per year
