What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Assistant position at Gibson Center for Behavioral Change?
The RCC Program Assistant is a crucial position which shows compassion and respect
for RCC visitors. This position is primarily responsible for providing assistance and support to
the Program Manager of the We Do Recover Recovery Community Center in caring out the
daily functions and other activities of the RCC. The Program Assistant should be in recovery
from either a Substance Use or Mental Health Disorder.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Adhere to RCC and Gibson Center for Behavioral Change policies and procedures.
Always maintain confidentiality for RCC visitors and staff.
2. Orient visitors to the facility and inform them of behavioral expectations and program
serivces that are available.
3. Make referrals to appropriate resources so that visitors can continue to engage in the
recovery process.
4. Program Assistant will maintain high standards of personal conduct, modeling
accountable relationships and fostering wellness and self-care along with their own
recovery.
5. Program Assistant will take responsibility for maintaining the integrity of job
performance. This includes using work time appropriately and always giving the best
effort on the job.
6. Program Assistant will at all times respect the rights and dignity of all RCC visitors.
7. Report to the Program Manager all behavioral issues or incidents on appropriate
forms.
8. Assist the Program Manager with RCC Advisory Board fuctions as needed.
9. Help ensure RCC supplies are stocked.
10. Display appropriate and ethical behaviors at all times.
11. Document any data required by the Program Manager or agency leadership.
12. Facilitate recovery activities, including support groups.The use of audio/video
equipment and literature may be necessary.
13. Assist in recreational activities as scheduled or as indicated by visitor needs/activity
levels per Program Manager
14. Assist in ensuring maintenance of a clean and safe RCC environment to including
evacutation drills and procedures.
15. Answer phone calls as appropriate.
16. Intervene in crisis situations and/or de-escalate potentially disruptive situations
promptly. Notify Program Manager.
17. Ensure all equipement is in properly working and not being abused.
18. Be on time for all shifts and be willing to work flexible hours.
19. Attend mandatory staff meetings and agency trainings as scheduled.
20. Perform other duties as assigned.
