The Mechanical Technician is responsible for mechanical tasks related to the upkeep of the Gateway facility including the maintenance, diagnosing and troubleshooting of instrumentation and electrical components/issues. The Mechanical Technician must also be able to repair and replace instrument and electrical components and maintain a consistent preventive maintenance schedule on all equipment within the facility.
What You'll Be Doing
- Responsible for overall troubleshooting and maintenance support for terminal operations in the assigned area including planning, estimating, scheduling and cost controlling.
- Perform and record regulatory and Company policy preventative maintenance inspections and procedures as identified in the Maintenance and/or Regulatory Manuals and in Maximo system.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge relating to new and current technology and equipment.
- Procure and manage the efforts of outside contractors as required.
- Implement standards, drawings, diagrams and construction specifications for the installation of new facilities and the repair or upgrade of existing facilities.
- Maintain equipment records and furnishing documentation per Company policy of work performed.
- Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- Experience in terminal, refinery operations, industrial manufacturing and maintenance is required.
- Experience in working with P&ID’s and schematics.
- Experience in Measurement of Liquids or Gas is preferred.
- Be able to read, understand and troubleshoot ladder logic.
- Knowledgeable of environmental related instrumentation (Continuous Emissions Systems, VCU’s).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license.

Additional qualifications/certifications are required as noted below. If you do not have the qualifications/certifications then you must show a willingness to obtain them within a specified time period.
- Valves (Introduction, Identify, Install and Maintain).
- Material Handling and Hand Rigging.
- Mobile and Support Equipment.
- Control Valves.
- Level Controllers.
- TI’s.
- Preventive and Predictive Maintenance.
- Troubleshooting and Repair of Instrument and Electrical equipment.
- Experience on Low to Medium voltage equipment testing, trouble shooting and repairs.

Must have the ability to navigate basic computer systems (i.e. Windows).
- Basic knowledge of SCADA applications, MS Office applications and Maximo applications is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- Position may require exposure to adverse weather conditions, hazardous environments and require the physical stamina to climb tanks, work long hours in the field and wear a respirator.
- This job can be required to sit, stand or drive for extended periods of time, as well as, bending, stooping, twisting and walking along broken or uneven surfaces. This position may require walking under, around or in-between pipes, and might require stepping or climbing over pipe from time to time; this also includes, climbing stairs or ladders or platform in excess of 50 feet. This position requires being around the presence of crude oil and its constituents, including but not limited to odors, fumes and varied concentrations of hydrogen sulfide. From time to time, this position may be required to lift tools or equipment in excess of 45 pounds. (US Operation jobs only - delete this bullet if not required).
