The Gibsonburg Police Department is seeking a full time Police Officer, a full time School Resource Officer, and part time Police Officer positions.
This position is subject to the Gibsonburg Police Department Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy. Which includes pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing, and follow-up testing. Starting wage is $21-$25 per hour. FT employees are eligible for employer pension pick up program. Applicants must be 21 years or older at the time of employment.
Requirements:
- Must be a United States Citizen, or current work permit status.
- Possess a valid Ohio Driver's License at the time of employment.
- Felony convictions and disqualifying criminal histories are not allowed.
- Completion of, or current enrollment in, an Ohio Basic Training Academy.
- Successful completion of extensive background.
- Oral Review Board.
- Psychological and Traits testing.
- CVSA if applicable.
- Drug Testing.
- Physical.
- Chief interview.

Responsibilities:
- Enforce laws and ordinances to maintain public safety and order
- Patrol assigned areas to deter criminal activity and respond to calls for service
- Conduct traffic stops and issue citations or warnings for traffic violations
- Investigate crimes, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and make arrests
- Write detailed reports on incidents, investigations, and interactions with the public
- Testify in court proceedings as needed
- Provide assistance and support to victims of crime or other emergencies
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations
Skills:
- Strong report writing skills to accurately document incidents and investigations
- Excellent driving skills to safely operate a police vehicle in various conditions
- Knowledge of loss prevention techniques to prevent theft and protect property
- Possession of a valid certificate from a police academy or law enforcement training program
- Proficiency in surveillance techniques to monitor suspicious activities
- Ability to provide care for animals involved in criminal cases or emergencies
- Experience in criminal investigation methods to gather evidence and solve cases
- Leadership skills to effectively supervise and guide other officers
- Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, policies, and legal regulations
- Familiarity with military-style discipline and protocols
