Functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing emotional, behavioral, and social challenges
- Assist in co-teaching social and emotional learning lessons with other team members
- Collaborate with the school’s multidisciplinary team to create and implement behavioral intervention plans
- Employ de-escalation techniques and behavioral strategies to support students in managing difficult emotions and behaviors
- Connect students and their families with appropriate community resources and external support systems
- Work with families to ensure continuity of care and support outside of school hours
- Maintain confidential and accurate records of student progress, interventions, and outcomes
- Must be a LPC or LCSW in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Knowledge and skills in working with children with ADD and behavioral and emotional disabilities
- Experience in behavior management, trauma-informed care, mindfulness techniques
- Strong knowledge of restorative practices and social-emotional learning
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team and communicate well with students, families, and staff of diverse backgrounds
- Passion for supporting children with behavioral and emotional needs in a school setting
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors using de-escalation strategies
- Ability to deliver and articulate oral presentations and written reports
- Ability to effectively analyze needs and problems objectively
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration and the general public
- Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds (and/or up to adult size body weight with two-to-three person lift). Position can require some degree of physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling physical behavior.
