Day in the Life of a Scooper:
- Take orders for ice cream menu items.
- Scoops and serves ice cream orders.
- General cash handling and transaction tendering.
- Stocks all ice cream, serving dishes and utensils.
- Keeps ice cream freezers stocked and clean.
- Cleaning, washing dishes, sweeping, mopping, exterior trash pickup etc.
- Contribute to an environment where we create Moments of Magic for our team & guests.
- Hustle, hustle, hustle – whether there’s a line out the door or we’ve hit a slow spell.
- Provide stellar customer service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and stay focused under pressure.
- Ice cream connoisseur- Enthusiastically share knowledge and recommendations about Gifford’s Ice cream with customers.
- Respect safety and quality standards to create a consistently joyful experience for our customers.
- Follow safety and hygiene standards – keeping the stand sparkling clean!

Scooper Qualifications: We are proud to be a first-job employer! No previous work experience required.
- 15 years or older
- Available to work entire season or during the summer months (Holidays Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day Weekends Mandatory).
- Must have reliable transportation and flexible availability (daytime, nighttime, weekend, and holidays)
- Can add to our fun environment!
- You can communicate clearly in an unapologetically positive manner to all people – customers, fellow stand family, and supervisors.
- Ability to take direction
- Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks such as standing and walking for long periods of time, with constant moving, bending, lifting, reaching and turning during all shifts in close proximity to others.
- Must be able to reach and grasp with hands, talk and hear from far away and in close proximity, taste and smell.
- Ability to work around ice cream equipment with moving parts and extreme temperature changes when entering our freezers.
- Must be able to climb ladders, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch while also being able to lift and move up to at least 20 pounds, but occasionally up to 50 pounds or more.
- Attendance is an essential function of the job.
