Gift & Thrift is looking Part-Time Associate to joint our team.
Job Summary
The Agora Retail Associate will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations as a frontline customer service representative. This position will be responsible for coordinating with the Agora Team Leader daily to manage various aspects of customer service to include but not limited to bagging items, knowledge of promotions, manually inputting discounts, price checks/verification, receiving payments and other related duties as assigned by the team leader. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, team player but also the ability to work independently and a passion for fostering a positive work environment for employees and volunteers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily operations of retail store
- Customer service and assistance with various request( i.e. price check)
- Assist with placing items back in appropriate locations
- Support the mission of Gift & Thrift, Inc. Be a team player and work with all leaders and staff
- Assist maintaining the overall cleanliness of the retail department
- Assist with other tasks as requested by the manager.
- Open and close the store
Qualifications
- Must be able to understand and carry out oral instructions OR read and carry out
simple written instructions.
- Ability to communicate verbally as well as electronically via email
- Should be able to plan (organize and schedule) own working activities, and
prioritize assigned tasks.
- Should have reasonable math skills related to changing money.
- Ability to operate electronics (i.e. cash register and Credit card machine
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to Lift 25 pounds regularly
- Weekend Availability
Work Environment
The Agora Retail Associate is expected to report to The BookSavers Manager in the absence of the Agora Team Leader. This position requires attention to detail, good communication skills in order to communicate effectively with donors, customers and co-workers verbally ,as well as, written.
Harrisonburg Gift & Thrift supports the local and global relief, development and peace projects of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC.ORG). We also support other local nonprofits in the Harrisonburg/Rockingham/Augusta area that serve at-risk populations in our communities. We also strive to be good environmental stewards, saving as much as possible from the landfill.
