Gifted Requirements
To be eligible, candidates must have a minimum of 1 year as an RN with recent experience in the relevant specialty.
Responsibilities:
PICU RNs provide age-appropriate care to pediatric patients and consult with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Monitoring patient's vital signs, such as blood pressure, breathing, and heart rate.
- Following continuous cardiac and respiratory monitor readings, including EKG tracings, O2 stats, CVP/arterial line waveforms.
- Tracking urine output, changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs.
- Administering infusion therapy, including IV fluids, antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, and electrolytes.
- Assisting with the insertion or discontinuation of CV catheters, arterial lines, external ventricular drains, epidural catheters, and endotracheal tubes, Foleys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Performing various medical procedures, including but not limited to, drawing blood samples, inserting IVs, and collecting tissue samples.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Providing education and support to patients and their families.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and maintaining accurate records.
