General Description:
The Nursery Attendant shall provide childcare for Sunday morning services and special events throughout the church year. The Nursery Attendant will have a heart for children and their families, a deep commitment to safety, and the desire to nurture every child under the care of the nursery ministry. The Nursery Attendant will possess good people skills that foster teamwork and collaboration to provide excellent care and Christian nurture for children in the Gig Harbor United Methodist Church nursery.
The position of Nursery Attendant is 3.25 hours per week.

Specific Duties:
- Care for children ages 6 weeks - 5 years with the direction/supervision of the Nursery Coordinator.
- Begin supervision 15 minutes prior to the service or special event and continue until 15 minutes after the service or special event. Sunday morning supervision will run from 8:45 am to 12:00 pm.
- Lead age-appropriate activities centered on Christian formation including songs and crafts that have been planned and provided by the Nursery Coordinator.
- Supervise the signing-in and signing-out process with parents.
- After all children have left, clean and tidy the nursery.
- For planned absences or illnesses contact the Nursery Coordinator in advance so substitute arrangements can be made.
- Report needs regarding facilities, supplies, and additional help to the Nursery Coordinator.
- On occasion, provide childcare for meetings, rehearsals, and special events.
Follow all guidelines of the United Methodist Church’s Safe Sanctuary policies.
Qualifications:
- Completes background check, Ministry Safe training, and abides by GHUMC’s Safe Sanctuary policies.
- Caring, nurturing, and friendly with the ability to relate positively to children and adults.
- Demonstrates tact, compassion, and empathetic concern for children and families.
- Dependable and responsible.
- Uses a positive approach to children and preventive approach to behavior management. No physical discipline will be tolerated.
- Experience with infants and young children.
- Is 18 years or older.
- Completes an approved CPR class, including infant CPR.
Hours and Compensation15 minutes before the scheduled childcare time until 15 minutes after the scheduled time. Pay is set as the current minimum wage for Washington State.
Position is subject to a National Background Check.
