Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician III is a highly skilled, certified professional responsible for providing independent, hands-on maintenance services across Gila River Development (GRD) business entities and other designated properties. This position is critical to ensuring the uninterrupted operation and longevity of key equipment, facilities, and infrastructure. The Facilities Maintenance Technician III will leverage expertise in multiple trades to perform preventative and emergency maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. This role demands adherence to safety protocols and compliance with all company policies, contributing to a secure, efficient, and functional environment.
Responsibilities:
General Maintenance & Repairs:
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration, and fire alarm systems.
- Conduct detailed inspections and general upkeep on facility grounds, including landscaping, roofing, and asphalt patching.
- Oversee maintenance and safe operation of fleet vehicles and heavy-duty equipment, including water trucks, forklifts, and other essential machinery.
Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to Gila River Development's Safety Manual, OSHA 30 guidelines, and enforce safe practices across all projects.
- Operate gas-powered and heavy equipment with required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to maintain a secure work environment.
- Attend safety meetings and training sessions, contributing to a culture of safety and best practices.
HVAC & Specialty Projects:
- Utilize in-depth HVAC knowledge to perform preventive maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting down to component level.
- Lead specialty HVAC, electrical, and other infrastructure projects as needed across the development.
- Ensure compliance with environmental guidelines through water treatment testing and the efficient operation of pump houses.
Facility Operations Support:
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, including after-hours calls, to ensure minimal operational downtime.
- Assist with facility director requests, including inspections, repairs, troubleshooting, and project completions for GRD, Rawhide, GRO, and GRBE properties.
- Regularly perform 18-point property inspections and document findings.
Documentation & Record Keeping:
- Prepare written materials related to preventive maintenance and maintain accurate documentation within the maintenance tracking system.
- Open and close work orders as required, ensuring thorough record-keeping and task completion.
- Organize and manage the maintenance shop, including tools, supplies, and inventory.

- Work will be performed both inside and outside on a regular basis, in most weather conditions.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as a normal part of this position.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk extended period. The employee occasionally is required to bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three years of experience in construction or maintenance, with expertise in electrical work up to 480 volts three-phase.
- EPA 608A, 410A, and Universal Technician Certification.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required as well as agree to participate in an on-call schedule prepared by management.
- Valid AZ driver's license, provide a 39-month satisfactory MVR report.
- Obtain a Tribal operator driving permit at the time of hire.
- A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs.
- Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in operating heavy equipment such as Vac trucks, graders, and slurry machines.
- Knowledgeable in safety codes and emergency procedures; capable of calm and responsible action in emergencies.
- Strong attention to detail, with a high degree of self-motivation and reliability.
- Willing to pursue continued education, including relevant certifications in trade skills and safety practices.
- Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.
- Proficient in MS office and other relevant workplace tools.
