Summary :
The General Manager of GRD provides visionary, innovative leadership across the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing strategic planning, policy approval, resource allocation, and operational oversight to ensure the organization's success. The General Manager fosters strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, maintains ethical business practices, and upholds organizational standards to achieve long-term economic growth and sustainability.
Responsibilities :
Leadership & Strategic Planning :
- Provides innovative leadership to the organization.
- Oversees the development and updating of strategic plans, policies, and procedures by the management team, ensuring they align with organizational goals.
- Reviews and approves strategic initiatives while delegating implementation to the appropriate teams.
- Establishes annual and long-term goals, monitors progress, and reports to the Board.
- Allocates resources effectively and ensures the successful execution of organizational objectives.
Operational Management :
Establishes plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocates resources; regularly reviews progress; evaluates and implements mid-course corrections.Oversees operational activities and ensures efficiency and effectiveness across all areas.Establishes and approves procurement, marketing, field, and technical service policies developed by the management team.Supervises management and staff to optimize productivity and results.Reviews and approves performance evaluation systems for job and project outcomes.Supervises personnel in accordance with policies and procedures.Financial Oversight :
Maintains fiscal responsibility for the organization.Reviews and approves budgets developed by the management team, ensuring alignment with Board directives and financial policies.Oversees financial operations, ensuring sustainable growth and adherence to sound business practices.Project & Asset Management :
Oversees construction and development projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.Approves leasing and property development strategies for a sustainable return on investment.Ensures the development team manages project planning and execution.Coordinates with consultants, contractors, and vendors to facilitate projects.Ensures proper documentation and record-keeping for all projectsStakeholder & Community Relations :
Builds and maintains strong relationships with the Gila River Indian Community, developers, corporate leaders, business owners, public entities, and community members.Represents the organization on relevant committees, boards, and agencies.Serves as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders to foster collaboration and economic development initiatives.Provides reports to the Community Council and other key entities, ensuring transparency and alignment with community goals.Ethical & Quality Standards :
Enforces ethical business practices and compliance with regulatory requirements.Establishes and upholds high organizational standards for quality service and operations.Fosters a strong internal culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.Other Duties :
Reviews and approves contract procurement processes, including bid evaluations and reporting.Ensures coordinated efforts between departments, utility providers, and service stakeholders.Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by the Gila River Development Board or Community CouncilSupervisor Responsibility :
Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes hiring, work allocation, training, problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance; provides guidance and feedback for assigned staff.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk extended period. The employee occasionally is required to bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and / or move 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, or a related field.Fifteen (15) years of experience in operations management or development in roles of increasing complexity.Ten (10) years of experience managing a large team of employees.Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for client meetings and events.Valid AZ driver's license, provide a 39-month satisfactory MVR report.Obtain a Tribal operator driving permit at the time of hire.A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs.Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.Preferred Qualifications :
Master's degree in business management, finance, or a related field.High level of professionalism and integrity.Expertise in preparing and analyzing operating and capital budgets.Strong ability to establish and maintain vendor relationships.Effective leadership and management of professional relationships.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong follow-through and attention to detail.Outstanding administrative and general management skills.Ability to communicate effectively in public speaking engagements.Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities.Demonstrated ability to exercise sound independent judgment.Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.Proficient in MS office and other relevant workplace tools.
