Courier-HHK-Sacaton

Position Summary: Provides courier services to satellite clinics and other off-campus sites to deliver or receive sterilized instruments and equipment, confidential information, and instruments with biohazardous contaminated materials. Ensures proper handling of all materials transported to maintain safety and security standards. Maintains detailed and accurate data logs of all courier related activities in order to support material and document tracking. Provides administrative support to departmental offices as needed as relates to the issuance and pickup of instrumentation.

Critical Tasks:

• Delivers sterilized instruments to and picks up contaminated biohazardous instruments and equipment from satellite clinics in order to ensure appropriate inventory levels and proper disposal of biohazardous waste.
• Delivers medical specimens, medical samples, and packages for laboratory.
• Courier duties experience a spectrum of weather conditions, from extreme hot to cold temperatures, monsoon rain, and extreme dust storms (Haboobs). Safe driving experience necessary.
• Receives and delivers sensitive and confidential documents while ensuring the security of all confidential information.
• Obtains recipient signatures when confirmation of delivery is required and provides recipient signature when picking up materials or documents.
• Operates enterprise motor vehicles while adhering to strict safety guidelines and traffic laws.
• Ensures proper temperatures and environmental controls for all transported materials in accordance with safety requirements and guidelines.
• Maintains knowledge of all Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) information and requirements for handling materials in order to ensure personal and public safety.
• Handles and disposes of biohazardous materials safely. Must clean up spills when necessary.
• Inspects vehicle to ensure dependable operation and maintains regular maintenance logs in order to provide accurate data to financial management. Schedules automotive preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure continuous safe operations.
• Assists in departmental administrative needs such as filling, scanning and faxing documents, ordering supplies, and maintaining a clean working environment.
• Maintains detailed and accurate logs of all courier activities in order to support appropriate material and document tracking.
• Performs other department and job-related activities as requested.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• State of AZ Driver’s License with no significant violations during the last 5 years.
• Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
