What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Worker-RTH-Chandler position at Gila River Health Care?
Position Summary: Assists in the preparation of a variety of food items in accordance with departmental work production standards and standardized recipes. Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware in accordance with established sanitation standards and requirements. Assists in labeling and storage of food supplies, equipment, and utensils. Prepares and delivers patient trays to Inpatient unit. Performs cashier duties daily.
Critical Tasks:
- Prepares food for order and assists in cooking food items.
- Prepares, serves, and stores food in accordance with facility policies.
- Cleans and sanitizes work stations, utensils, equipment, and food and non-food storage areas within the department.
- Labels and rotates inventory of stock items in accordance with established procedures and standards.
- Receives and stores food supplies, equipment, and utensils in proper storage areas.
- Follows printed recipes and par levels for food items prepared.
- Follows diet orders assigned for patient meals.
- Takes and records temperature of food and food storage areas to maintain safe food handling practices.
- Performs cashier assignment that includes being responsible for an assigned cash drawer and the monetary amount that includes a beginning balance and the total sales at the end of shift.
- Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training, and quality assurance programs/initiatives.
- Follows safety standards and reports or removes unsafe equipment.
- Performs other job-related activities as requested.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- 1 year food service experience in a health care setting preferred.
- Current and valid Food Handler's card or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures.
