The Accounts Technician is responsible for providing general clerical, accounting and bookkeeping support functions toward achieving the financial goals of the department/program assigned to.
· Provide customer services internally and externally (in-person, phone, fax, and other electronic communications).
· Responsible for timely processing of invoices, purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
· Responsible for the timely processing of accounts receivable for customers of an assigned department or timely processing of payments to outside vendors based on assignment of position.
· Reconcile the accounts and maintain records for the department/program assigned to.
· Follow up on slow or non-paying accounts receivable. (GRIIDD only)
· Conduct research on accounts as necessary toward ensuring accuracy of records.
· Perform filing and other general administrative tasks.
· Assist the department by compiling records necessary toward the preparation of financial records and other financial reports on a routine or as-needed basis.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
· General knowledge of office procedures and practices.
· General knowledge of automated accounting systems and operations of various office machines and be proficient in use of applicable software such as Excel, spreadsheets, Access and Word documents.
· Must have good writing and bookkeeping skills.
· Ability to handle confidential financial information with tact and discretion.
· Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with accuracy, completeness and consistency.
· Ability to clearly communicate both orally and in writing and to work effectively with departments, the public and Community members.
· Ability and willingness to learn and implement new skills and knowledge introduced by rapidly changing information and/or technology.
· Ability to organize and process work efficiently with accuracy and consistency.
· Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials and the public.
· Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.
High School diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in accounting, bookkeeping and preparing reconciliations; which included experience using Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint applications. Previous experience working with accounting software is preferred.
Required to pass a background check.
Required to obtain a Tribal Operator’s permit. Valid state driver’s license with proof of driving record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the application
