What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (Scada) Operator position at GILA RIVER INDIAN COMMUNITY?
The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Operator is a professional who monitors and controls various systems and processes using specialized software and equipment. The SCADA Operator may also be involved in designing and developing new control systems, testing and maintaining existing systems, analyzing data and presenting reports, managing operations and working with other staff under general supervision of the General Manager. The incumbent maintains real-time data processing and communication with remote devices that are essential in operating the SCADA system. The SCADA Operator will utilize SCADA to interact with control structures such as Rubicon gates and control structures to monitor and deliver irrigation water through the irrigation delivery systems.
- Monitor SCADA support systems and assist in outage events, to assure the continuous operation of the SCADA environment.
- SCADA Operations Support will monitor production, stage environments, and application to assure a minimal outage of all SCADA applications and creates appropriate documentation and make recommendations for improving existing architecture .
- Participates, plans disaster recovery testing, implementation in regular staged releases to production and other environments as needed and analyses historical alarm logs to assure efficient resolution.
- Communicates with all members of the SCADA support team (SCADA Technicians) of outstanding issues and areas needing attention and will backfill documentation and procedures when new functionality is determined to be effective.
- Provides data security to ensuring data integrity and security by performing backups and maintaining smooth data flow.
- Provide support and assistance to maintain large-scale processes without interruptions and cross train other in group of new applications environments and practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, SCADA systems software and hardware, programming and applicable operating systems.
- Knowledge and use of troubleshooting equipment and software to repair and diagnose any malfunctions in the system.
· Knowledge of the installation, reception, and configuration of servers, networks, and equipment for the continuous maintenance and upgrades to the SCADA systems
· Knowledge of data communications monitoring, PLC circuit troubleshooting, and firewall set up and security of the SCADA system from external attacks.
· Knowledge of safety procedures for working with electrical equipment.
· Skill in the use of personal computers, including software applications, such as Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office professional software.
· Knowledge of system access management, license and support document organization and maintenance.
· Knowledge of SCADA system hardware and software that allow organizations to control process both locally and remotely.
High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience in maintenance, design, and construction of electrical/instrumentation and control systems or any combination of education, training, or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
· Required to obtain a Tribal Operator’s permit. Valid state driver’s license with proof of driving record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the application
.Required to pass a background check.
