What are the responsibilities and job description for the Global Category Leader, Electronic Components - Hybrid position at Gilbarco Veeder-Root?
The key purpose of this position is to develop and establish a robust category management process and plan for assigned categories of electronic components with the goal of reducing revenue risk for Vontier Operating Companies associated with these categories of parts and achieving OMX cost saving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ownership of Category Strategy Plan Process for Specific focused Categories assigned. Highest focus is placed on assurance of supply and saving initiatives.
- Ability to develop strategic & financial plans related to assigned Category
- Have an established network and relationship with market suppliers in the Electronics Components Manufacturer & Distribution
- Manage the benchmark components cost tool where we could benchmark the actual cost that our EMS is paying vs market std cost and identify cost saving opportunity
- Develop and implement “best-in-class” supply chain processes and procedures.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and support to Operating Companies relevant Category team members.
- Champion Category Core Team Initiatives Throughout Vontier
- Influence Engineering component selection during the design phase and manage through OCRAP tool the obsolescence risk for existing boards.
- Develop and drive implementation of Vontier ‘Preferred’ Suppliers Across the Enterprise
- Actively Participate in Preparation and Executing Corporate-Wide Sourcing Events
- Manage Tier 2 and 3 Supplier Performance for Focused Categories
- Ability to think globally but even taking into consideration that some manufacturers are still having a strong regional organization
- Leverage price/Inventory agreement with manufacturer/distributor for all Vontier Opcos spend
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, 30% of the time.
Background and Skill
- 5 - 7 years’ experience in strategic sourcing with emphasis on electronic components, EMS suppliers and/or component distributors.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and communicate effectively to multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in structuring contracts and managing business relationships
- Experience in managing & driving performance excellence with Sole and/or Single Sourced partners
- Ability to manage the sourcing of electronics related to regulatory and customer requirements
- Experience & demonstrated abilities to enable cost improvements via expert negotiation skills, collaboration, process improvements & project management
- Negotiation skills and techniques leveraging collaboration to drive win-win solutions to optimize cost and performance.
- Ability to influence others - must be able to inform, influence, and collaborate with others to action on key initiatives of the Specific Categories Assigned at all levels in the organization (up and down), internally and externally
- Developing organizational talent - must be able to develop commodity team members
- Negotiation skills and techniques leveraging collaboration to drive win-win solutions to optimize cost and performance
- Plus would be if candidates have already network created with main electronics component manufacturer and/or if he/she has experience already working in one of major distributor organization or EMS supply chain
- Degree in Electrical Engineering/Supply Chain preferred. Basic technical knowledge of electronic components is required
