What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Finisher position at GILES FOOD SERVICE EQUIPMENT?
This is a mid-level craftsman position that reports to the Fabrication Manager and is responsible for completing advanced finishing requirements for the Welding/Finishing Department.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS
A. General:
1. High school diploma (or G.E.D. equivalency) is required. Technical college experience in welding is beneficial. Short courses in blueprint reading, and layout work are desirable.
2. A minimum of two years experience as a finisher and knowledge of welding and finishing galvanized, stainless and grain materials are required; the ability to read shop drawings and blueprints would be beneficial.
B. Essential Job Functions:
1. Accepts stock from both internal and external suppliers; expertly operates and maintains finishing machinery and deburring tools (drills, drill presses, dynafile, flap wheels, bead blaster, grinders, polishers, etc.) in an efficient, proper and safe manner.
2. With minimum supervision, consistently produces high quality finished items well within specified tolerances; performs quality checks.
3. Performs within safety margins; knows and adheres to safety rules and regulations; learns how to maintain safety equipment; incorporates safety into daily activities.
4. Practices care, maintenance, and preventive maintenance on equipment and tools; learns good housekeeping habits and keeps the finishing work area free from debris and clutter.
5. Supports the operating philosophy of the Company including its policies and procedures; sustains an strong work ethic and caring attitude: is punctual, dependable, cooperative and responsible; assists in self-development and in the training of others when asked.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
1. Knows the precautions necessary to avoid damaging stainless and galvanized sheet metal surfaces; removes all burrs; stays with the grain; produces high quality finishes, surfaces are smooth, and finishes are bright in appearance.
2. Practices quality checking and quality control using measuring devices in addition to "feeling quality" and "sight quality"; minimizes the need for re-work during assembly.

3. Uses good safety techniques; keeps safety equipment in good working order; remains responsible for their keeping; has a good safety record.
4. Becomes more knowledgeable of materials, finishing machinery and techniques and products; reflects proper care and use of machinery and tools.
5. Increases knowledge of stock including properties and sizes; sustains/increases production efficiency; decreases waste and maintains good scrap control.
6. Works well without undue supervision; accepts supervision, including the change in scope of work, positively.

8. Pay: $16.00 - $17.50 per hour
