What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Pupil Services position at Gill-Montague Regional School District?
The Director of Pupil Services provides leadership to central office administrators, principals, district personnel and the school committee concerning special education, English language learners, school nursing, and other student services. The Director implements policies and directives as assigned by the Gill-Montague Regional School District, the Massachusetts Department of Education and the federal government. Working closely with the superintendent, the Director implements policies and procedures promoting the success of all students and supporting accountability in all schools. The Director also works closely with the director of business/operations in ensuring fiscally responsible practices.Performance Responsibilities: 1)Assists in the recruitment, selection and placement of all pupil services staff.2)Supervises, evaluates, and recommends for tenure and/or contract renewal staff serving in the areas of special education, ELL, and health.3)Develops, recommends, and provides ongoing evaluation and modifications to policies and programs essential to the needs of exceptional children.4)Implements policy and directives of the Gill-Montague Regional School District, Massachusetts Department of Education, and the federal government, in the areas of special education and student services.5)Assumes responsibility for compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports and records legally required and administratively used.6)Writes, administers, and maintains special education and related grants.7)Serves as the Homeless Liaison for the district.8)Attends all special education hearings and mediations.9)Works closely with the director of business and operations and the superintendent in ensuring proper fiscal practices with all special education/student services personnel and programs.10)Prepares and administers fiscally responsible budget requests.11)Prepares and administers circuit breaker data.12)Coordinates in-service workshops, training, and development programs focusing on special education/student services issues.13)Develops programs which meet the needs of both students and the fiscal constraints of the district budget.14)Establishes and maintains positive relationships with staff, students, parents, local community groups, and individuals.15)Coordinates services for children under 3 through 6 years as regulated by state and federal legislation.
