RN Supervisor-Ambulatory Care for the outpatient clinic at St. Paul. This 1.0 FTE position supports multiple pediatric specialties serving patients in our outpatient clinic setting. Scheduled Monday-Friday with hours ranging between 7 : 00am-5 : 15pm.

This position exists to administer family-centered nursing care to patients, advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, and / or provide skilled assistance in navigation of the health care system as appropriate to the developmental, cultural, emotional, and medical, surgical, or rehabilitative needs of the patient and their families. The nursing leader oversees and directs patient care activities and unit personnel and provides leadership through multidisciplinary teamwork. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to staff scheduling, participation in the hiring process, and performance management.

Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient's condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams, consistent with our Gillette CARES expectations.

Compensation & Benefits Information

The annual salary range for this opportunity is $100,672.00 to $151,028.80, with a median salary of $125,850.40. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees. Core Responsibilities and Duties

Patient CareUtilizes leadership principles in mobilizing the patient care team to achieve positive patient outcomes.

  • Oversees the completion of Nursing Process.
  • Evaluates based on desired outcomes.
  • Communicates real time patient-related nursing data and information to enhance active and informed decision making by patients, families, nurse colleagues, and other healthcare providers.
  • Monitors and holds staff and providers accountable for timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
  • Demonstrates and assists inter-professional team with adjustment in interactions, the delivery of care, and / or clinical techniques.
  • Uses systems thinking to influence care models.

Family centered care - Supervises and leads nursing care and health education reflecting specific patient, family, cultural and community needs.

  • Identifies the learning needs of the population served and seeks opportunities to support and evaluate effectiveness of health education as culturally and developmentally appropriate.
  • Autonomous Practice - Exercises independent judgment that influences care and demonstrates understanding of potential clinical implications.

  • Supervises, delegates, and provides care based on the abilities and limitations of care personnel and patient acuity.

  • Active Engagement - Actively represents the department in committees, task forces, unit activities or other work groups and disseminates information and decisions to colleagues and peers.

  • Leads, chairs, or co-chairs minimum of one engagement activity.
  • Ensures accountability through the use of dashboards and promote transparency through reporting of near misses and medical errors.
  • Lead or facilitate participation in department staff meetings.
  • Demonstrates meaningful contributions to the productivity of the professional environment of the department and the Clinical Shared Governance model.
  • Attend a minimum of 75% of staff meetings.
  • Attend a minimum of 75% of committee meetings.
  • Collaborates with manager and other department leaders to ensure resource allocations, development, and implementation of strategies reflect the clinical and programmatic operation needs of the unit.

  • Qualifications

    Required

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license through the MN Board of Nursing
  • Documentation of completion of a professional nursing program (RN program)
  • The nurse must, at a minimum, have a current Nursing Specialty Certification (or obtain within 12 months of start date in position; within 24 months when specific certifications require extended experience in a specific specialty or in the preparation stages, such as CRRN) and bachelor's degree in Nursing or other healthcare related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. If candidate holds valid CPR for through another acceptable organization (as determined by Gillette), candidate may be able to begin employment but must complete Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association within one month of employment.
  • Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. PALS must be obtained by the end of orientation or max of 3 months of hire.
  • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. ACLS must be obtained by the end of orientation or max of 3 months of hire.
  • Must be interested in working with people with short term or long term disabilities that begin in childhood.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Physically able to work hours required and physically able to transport patients.
  • Preferred

  • A minimum of 3 years nursing experience.
  • Master's degree in Nursing or other healthcare related field
