This position exists to provide access for patients, families and providers to Gillette’s complex services. Promotes and maintains excellent and positive patient and family experience as the first impression of the organization.

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $ to $, with a median wage of $ Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Primary Job Responsibilities

Information – Finds, effectively uses and provides information when requested. Readily adjusts to shifting priorities and work assignments.

  • Utilizes all available resources (technology / people) to optimize the patient experience.
  • Provides quality, complete and timely registration / scheduling of patients.
  • Coordinates appointment appropriateness and ‘urgency’ in collaboration with nurses and providers.
  • Consults with providers, nurses, supervisors and other appropriate resources to resolve complex patient needs or scheduling issues.
  • Knowledge of insurance plans to verify insurance coverage and eligibility and payer requirements.
  • Obtains / updates and document patient demographic, financial and medical information, with a high level of accuracy for the provision of services, and is accountable to provide quality complete timely registration and scheduling of patients to maximize financial return to Gillette Children’s.

Accurate and Efficient Work – Demonstrates accuracy, efficiency and completeness in products and processes. Performs tasks with appropriate urgency and accuracy while reducing waste through proactive time management.

  • Consistently follows all current department and organizational guidelines and workflows. Includes : intake, registration, and scheduling.
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills to identify high risk or complex patients during a hand-off to RN and / or other medical professionals.
  • Demonstrates high attention to detail and use appropriate tools ensuring all patient demographics and insurance is accurate.
  • Demonstrates accuracy in creation of scheduling encounters and appointments.
  • Meets scorecard standards for the department.
  • Competence in Technology Required of the Position – Demonstrates understanding of the tools and systems needed to accomplish work.

  • Demonstrates competency in organizational systems including : registration, scheduling, electronic medical record, office equipment, online resources, and other relevant technology to perform all necessary registration and scheduling functions.
  • Procedure and Policies – Follows established procedures and policies. Protects the confidentiality of personal health information.

  • Adheres to all organization and department policies, guidelines, workflow to eliminate errors in practice.
  • Adheres to organization and department attendance policy.
  • Qualifications

    Required

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • year experience with customer service, administrative, or healthcare setting
  • Preferred

  • Advanced education (Associate or Bachelor’s)
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced education (Associates or Bachelors Degree)
  • Knowledge & understanding of medical terminology
  • Knowledge & understanding of commercial insurance carriers and standard insurance forms
  • Strong computer aptitude including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated strength in customer service, organization, attention to detail and the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated strong teamwork skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and respond quickly / reprioritize changing needs
