Dock Worker with CDL - First Shift
Gilman Cheese Corporation is seeking a south dock team member on first shift. In this role, you will unload incoming product, load outgoing product, and keep production lines supplied with raw material while safely complying with all Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements. This position requires a CDL license to drive a yard truck only short distances, primarily to move trailers around Gilman Cheese property. This individual will work as the CDL driver when the full-time driver is off work.
- You will work from approximately 5:15 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. (First Shift) Monday through Thursday. Fridays are scheduled based on business needs (typically 15 Fridays per year are required). Advance notice is provided when Friday work is required.
- The starting pay rate is $23.00 per hour. New hires are also eligible for a $500 bonus after (3) months of employment and a second $500 bonus after (6) months of employment!
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate company truck(s) in a safe manner to move, load, and unload trailers
- Oversee and ensure production lines are supplied with blocks of cutting cheese and other raw materials
- Unload incoming product per standard operating procedure (SOP)
- Load outgoing product per SOP
- Maintain a clean work area
- Inspect movers/lifts daily and accurately complete appropriate documentation
- Open boxes of cheese
- Tools/Equipment Used: Pallet movers, aisle stackers, pallet wrapper, yard truck, box cutter
Education and Experience:
- This position requires a minimum of six (6) months of related work experience
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required
- Must possess a Medical Card as required by DOT
- CDL tractor trailer truck driving experience preferred
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Work well as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong work ethic
- Basic math, English, and computer skills
The position involves continuous standing, walking, occasional bending, and seldom climbing. The position requires lifting 25 lbs. frequently with occasional lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. The South Dock Worker normally works four ten-hour shifts, with hours depending on production needs.
Full-time employees are eligible for:
- Eight (8) paid holidays and two (2) floating holidays per year; employees are eligible for holiday pay on the first day of employment
- No weekend shifts
- PTO after 60 days of employment
